Successful Collection Event at Asda Antrim

25th June 2025

In a heartwarming display of community spirit, Antrim Foodbank recently hosted a two-day collection event at Asda Antrim on Friday 13th June and Saturday 14th June. The goal was to raise awareness of the vital work the foodbank does and to encourage much-needed donations from the local community.

The event was part of Asda’s Community Food Drive initiative, which brings local communities together to support foodbanks across the UK. The collaboration between Asda and Antrim Foodbank provided an excellent opportunity for shoppers to engage and contribute towards helping those facing food insecurity in the local area.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of shoppers at Asda Antrim, the event was a resounding success. Over the course of the two days, the collection raised £182.30, an amount that will directly support our mission of providing emergency food to those in need. Additionally, customers donated an impressive 348kg of food, which translates to approximately 995 meals for local residents who are struggling to make ends meet.

The donations consisted of a variety of much-needed food items, including pasta, tinned vegetables, cereals, and toiletries, all of which are essential for preparing nutritious meals for those in crisis. These contributions are vital in ensuring that we can continue to meet the growing demand for support within the community.

The partnership between Antrim Foodbank and Asda Antrim highlights the importance of local businesses working together with community-based charities. Not only do these events provide much-needed resources, but they also serve as an important reminder of the power of community involvement. Even small acts of kindness can have a huge impact on the lives of others, especially in times of financial hardship.

At Antrim Foodbank, we continue to depend on the support of local businesses, community groups, and individuals to ensure that no one in the area goes hungry. As the cost of living continues to rise and more people face economic challenges, foodbanks remain a lifeline for those in need.

For anyone wishing to support Antrim Foodbank, donations can be made directly to us via our website or by visiting one of our donation points (we have a permanent collection point at Tesco Antrim and Spar Greystone). The success of this event at Asda Antrim is a testament to the incredible generosity of the local community. Together, we can continue to make a positive difference in the lives of those who need it most.
