Antrim Foodbank has added an additional food bank centre to meet the increase in demand in the Town.
Fionnuala O’Donnell, Project Manager with Antrim Foodbank, said:
At Antrim Foodbank, we work with the Trussell Trust to help build a #HungerFreeFuture. Last year, Antrim Foodbank helped 4,285 people in crisis in our Town, including almost 2,000 children. This is an increase of over 62% on 2020.
To try and meet this need, we have had to look at how and where we operate to provide people in crisis with the help they need when and where they need it. This had led us to open an additional food bank centre on the Greystone Road.
Antrim Foodbank – Greystone is hosted by our friends at Greystone Road Presbyterian on Thursdays from 10 am – 12 noon in the Rock Community Café, accessible via Bleerick Drive.
Lead Volunteer, Stephen Brown, said:
The Rock Community Café operates on a pay what you can afford (or don’t) basis for tea, coffee and some of the finest scones in Antrim! This provides a friendly, relaxed environment where people referred to us can access the help they need when they need it.
