Thank you, Antrim!

30th July 2021

You donated 500kg of food through the Summer Food Collection at Tesco Extra Massereene!

From Thursday 15th July to Saturday 17th July, Tesco customers were asked to donate essential items as part of a drive to help support children and families throughout the summer holidays.

You stepped up with donations that will provide 1,190 meals to people in crisis in Antrim.

Tesco is topping up your food donations by 20%, which will support Antrim Foodbank in providing emergency food parcels and practical support.

Fionnuala O’Donnell, Antrim Foodbank Manager, said:

Last year, we provided 1227 emergency food parcels to people in crisis in our local area.

The generosity of Tesco Extra Massereene customers throughout the Summer Food Collection has helped Antrim Foodbank replenish our stocks.

This will help us to continue to meet the need of our town. That need is, however, a constant all year round, and it is growing. On the one hand, we are saying “thank you”; on the other, “please”.

Please remember Antrim Foodbank whenever you are doing the big shop.  We still have our permanent collection point after you checkout at Tesco and donations can also be left at our Warehouse in High Street every Friday morning.

If you are doing the big shop this #FoodbankFriday, we could always be doing with:

Long Life Milk
Tinned Tomatoes
Tinned meals (curry, spag bol etc)
Rice
Tinned veg
Diluting juice
Biscuits
Custard
Rice Pudding

Together we can help build a #HungerFreeFuture
